Created in collaboration with Diné community, activists, storytellers, and citizen scientists, the film is a love letter to the land that shifts the nuclear dialogue from fear to one of curiosity, resilience and healing; as well as explores how nuclear nonproliferation, arms control, and disarmament policies are connected to today’s most pressing local and global issues.
Artist Biography
Kayla Briët is a multidisciplinary artist exploring themes of futurity and belonging. With works spanning film scores and documentary to virtual reality installations, she aims to amplify muted stories and write love letters to the diaspora communities she grew up in. She is Taiwanese-Chinese, Dutch-Indonesian, and African-American raised by her father who is an enrolled citizen of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
