ReVerie

Signals Creative Tech Expo, Oct 3 - 12, 2025 | DigiBC Studio, Vancouver, BC

ReVerie is a deeply introspective exploration of dreams through 3D generative AI.

The immersive experience merges the personal with the collective in a shared digital dreamscape.

In dream science, “Dreamwork” encompasses a broad range of practices like dream analysis and exploration, aimed at uncovering insights into the subconscious mind. Central to this is the re-experiencing or reliving of dreams—immersing in memories and emotions to uncover subconscious meanings.

The ReVerie AI system explores this scientific concept of dream reliving, translates whispered dream recollections into real-time visualizations of dream objects using a 3D generative diffusion model, allowing participants to explore a shared “dreamscape”.

At its core, ReVerie challenges the capacity of technology to authentically represent the intangible and private terrain of dreams. By actively engaging with the process, viewers are invited to reflect on the truthfulness of these digital representations: do they liberate the unconscious—or constrain it?

Through this juxtaposition, ReVerie underscores how modern AI, with its generative and interpretive capacities, can either challenge or perpetuate subconscious control. By allowing participants to co-create in an open dreamscape, ReVerie offers an alternate route—a reclaiming of agency, where individuals contribute to a living, evolving collective dream that resists singular interpretations.

Artist Biography

Pinyao Liu is an interdisciplinary artist-researcher working between Linz and Vancouver at the crossroads of dream science, generative AI, and immersive media. His practice spans interactive installations, computational art, and sensory performances that explore altered states of consciousness and the aesthetics of dreaming. Blending scientific inquiry with poetic intuition, Pinyao investigates how technology can mediate memory, transformation, and the subconscious. His work has been featured internationally at venues including Ars Electronica, the Shanghai Biennale, SIGGRAPH, NeurIPS Creative AI, and the CVPR AI Art Gallery, offering deeply immersive experiences that blur the boundaries between perception, emotion, and machine intelligence.

Keon Ju Maverick Lee is a techno-fluent artist-researcher, percussionist, and electronic music composer exploring the intersection of music and artificial intelligence. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. at SFU’s Metacreation Lab, he designs co-creative AI agents and interactive systems for dynamic human-machine improvisation. His custom AI percussion setup was featured in Echoes of Synthetic Forest, a finalist at the 2024 AI Music Song Contest. Lee has presented work at MUTEK, SIGGRAPH, and SAT’s ArtIA Symposium, and collaborates with CIRMMT, IRCAM, and C4DM. His research bridges academic rigor and performance, expanding the expressive potential of AI-driven music.
