The Signals XR Lab supports the incredible work of equity-deserving XR producers and studios across Canada and Turtle Island. If you are an XR producer or studio with a bold idea, consider joining the 2025 Signals XR Lab.

The Lab creates a unique platform for those dedicated to XR, virtual production, and immersive storytelling, providing them with the necessary structure, tools and support they’ll need to innovate, network, and showcase world-class projects from October 3rd – 12th at the 2025 Signals Creative Tech Expo.

The XR Producer’s Lab is your opportunity to transform your ideas from concept to reality—surrounded by a supportive community of mentors and creators who will be cheering you on every step of the way.

Participants in the Lab benefit in countless ways including:

  • Receiving mentorship from industry leaders including Loretta Todd, Loc Dao, and Debi Wong from the Signals curatorial team; Eric Cheng from Meta, John Canning from AMD, special industry guests, and the network of Signals Alumni
  • Gaining access to the Signals XR Hardware Library (headsets, motion capture equipment, gaming computers, etc.)
  • Prepare a project for exhibition at Signals 2025 with compassionate and professional guidance and support

XR Lab 2024

The 2024 inaugural Signals XR Lab supported eight Indigenous and Equity-Seeking producers working in XR, video games, immersive installations, and AI. Over the course of five months, this talented crew worked with the Signals Curatorial team and a generous group of mentors to refine and build their projects which premiered at the 2024 Signals Creative Tech Expo from September 27 through October 6. Aexia, a VR role-playing platform to create, share and play showcased using a piece by Stephanie Wong – Calling Home, a narrative role play experience built using Aexia.
